Judy Yaltadel: Bass  

With Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Bass Performance at Univ. of Michigan and Rice University, respectively; 40+ years of performing experience in classical, musical theater, jazz, and rock music (including many years with the Cape Symphony Orchestra; principal bassist with the Chatham and Outer Cape Chorales; principal bassist with the Houston Bach Chorus and Orchestra; two full-time professional orchestras; major opera and ballet company orchestras; numerous musical theater productions, including 36 performances of West Side Story under the baton of a student of Leonard Bernstein; swing/jazz bands; the British rock band The Moody Blues; Yo-Yo Ma; Willie Nelson; and many others); and 35+ years' experience teaching, including serving as the Master Bass Coach for the top two Houston Youth Symphony Orchestras, coaching the cello and bass sections of the New England Conservatory Youth Philharmonic, coaching all strings, designing/leading District and State workshops, and adjudicating auditions, Judy Yaldatel is ready to support your musical program and help your bass students become their best. 

Ms. Yaldatel teaches beginners to professionals, 8 years old through adults of all ages. Each student is a unique and precious person to her and she teaches both French and German style bows.  Students of hers have reached the top levels of District and All State.

 

Ms. Yaldatel can accommodate teaching private lessons at the school as well as her own studio. She is supportive of the music educator both in words and in helping bass students with their school ensemble music along with other music, including technique and solos. A native of Massachusetts, she performed in MA District and All State Orchestras all four years of high school, serving as principal bassist the last three years. 

 

Students Ms. Yaldatel has worked with have won positions teaching public school, with the President's Own Marine Band, with the National Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York City, and Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestras, and elsewhere. They have attended such major music schools as Oberlin, Cleveland Institute of Music, University of North Texas, and Rice University. Many who choose other careers continue to play bass for the joy of it
