Ellen Brodsky

Ellen Brodsky is a lifelong lover of dance. She has studied Jazz, Modern, Belly Dance, Flamenco and Pilates and began with Ballroom for a family wedding. Starting in 1986, Mary French taught Ellen and her husband in Mary’s studio in Cataumet, and when the Arthur Murray Studio opened in Centerville in 1990, Ellen began training as a dance teacher. In 1992 Ellen began teaching at Falmouth Night School, soon expanding to two nights a week. At the Mary French Studio, she continued her apprenticeship and managed the studio for the winter months from 1997 until Mary’s death in 2008. In 2001, Ellen earned my Certification for Dance Teachers Club of Boston. Her first Saturday evening dance/guided practice at the Cape Cod Conservatory has continued once a month for ten years. A first step to going out dancing, it nurtures beginning ballroom students and provides practice for the continuing student. Ellen loves spending time with happy people and her music. She tries to get students to understand their bodies and their connection to their partners. How things work is much more interesting than mere dance steps. Ellen continues to study under Ron Gursky.
